    Not necessarily, you can setup your local machine as a web server and then have different sites setup that you wish to develop and test. Hosting accounts are useful to test things in the real world but not always a pre-requisite.

    XAMPP would be an easy option to get you started locally on your machine:-

    Yes you do need a host but you could use a service like siteground or any host that has cpanel.
    Cpanel is really user friendly for people that don’t want to do manual installs/updates with joomla. Cpanel will do most of the setup for you.

    Yes you do. I have my website in Joomla and I host it with HostGator. Since Joomla is Open Source in the cloud you need a Web Host to be able to access and publish live to the web. Some resources below:

    You can add Joomla through Fantastico in your web hosting account cPanel or install Joomla manually onto your website. Where are you currently hosting all of your clients websites? All you need to do is install Joomla on whatever domain you are looking to use Joomla on.
