how can i learn joomla? where can i get free domain and free web hosting from?

this question is two fold. first i would like to know is joomla the best way to start learning web development? do i need to learn html/css first. i would also like to learn php/mysql and other languages like perl,python,java,.net. can i implement all those into Joomla.
second is do i need to purchase a domain or get a free one like co.cc or get a free webhost and use there subdomain? also another option is to get xampp and use that as localhost and do it that way.
also are there any good resources online to learn these things. please share. thanks for looking

    first question: no.
    Start by creating sites from scratch, using html,css , then start implementing php and javascript. Also start using databases, use MySQL together with php.
    You shouldn’t start web development with Joomla. It would be too confusing, because you need to understand html,css,sql and object-oriented PHP.

    second question:
    use xampp, it’s great for beginners, it’s easy to install and it’s got a mysql database ready.

    and start with the basic ones.

    1) Learn HTML and CSS. Then learn programming. (http://www-old.oberon.ethz.ch/WirthPubl/AD.pdf is good for that.) Then learn PHP, Javascript and SQL – in that order.

    You could use Joomla, but you don’t have to. CodeIgniter is good also.
