What’s a good free hosting service?

I’m looking to host a joomla website. I just need ftp access, 1 mySQL database, and to use my own domain. I’ve tried Freehosting.com, x10hosting, and 000webhost.com and they were all very slow. I think its cuz the servers are located in europe and I’m in the US.

I can give you some ideas and you just need to spend time looking at these. You need to provide them what you exactly need so they can cater you the best.
1. http://www.freeunlimitedhosting.org/ – there’s a list there of hosting sites depending on what you need
2. http://www.multidomainhosting.org/
3. http://www.hostingsthatsuck.com/fatcow-sucks/

I’ve been researching a lot about those and I hope those could help you as much as they helped me. :)

The first type of domain name is known as a third level domain name. This is a domain name that is commonly distributed by free web hosting companies.
